  • Cover it with the tape or bandage, whichever suits you.
  • Leave this cotton ball and tape on the wart overnight or as long as you can.
  • Remove the tape and discard the cotton ball in the morning.
  • Repeat it every night till the wart falls off.

Another method that you can try is to submerge the hands and feet into a solution. It is as follows.

  • Make 1:1 ratio of apple cider vinegar and water into a large container.
  • Dip the affected area i.e. hands or feet into it for 15 minutes.
  • Rinse the skin with plain water after this time.
  • Repeat it every day.

Is it proven by research?

Talking about the apple cider vinegar, there is unfortunately little research on it. There is no scientific data to tell that apple cider vinegar is effective for treating warts. But the studies have shown that vinegar, in general, can kill harmful pathogens i.e. bacteria virus etc.

For this reason, people use vinegar as a household disinfectant and also to preserve the food. It prevents the food from spoilage by pathogens. There is no data that suggests that vinegar helps to fight against infections in human in any way.

The reason why apple cider vinegar works on warts are that it works like all other acids. One of the acids helpful to get rid of the warts is salicylic acid that is a part of topical skin creams. Apple cider vinegar works the same way as that of salicylic acid.

One should be extra careful while using apple cider vinegar on the skin directly. It is never recommended to use apple cider vinegar on the skin directly. At the start, it feels like a mild irritation or a burning sensation. It increases with time.

If you experience a lot of burning and pain after using the ACV concentrated or diluted, remove the cotton ball immediately and wash it with water. Never use concentrated apple cider vinegar on warts directly.

Do not use apple cider vinegar when you have an open wound on your skin. Also, you should not use it on your face, neck or basically any skin. You can use apple cider vinegar on all types of warts EXCEPT genital warts. Never use apple cider vinegar on genital warts. These types of warts are different and should only be treated by a certified doctor.
