It is a fact that everyone has different weight loss patterns but why does that happen? The new research study has identified a molecule that is found in fat cells. Now we have a reason to blame for persistent weight.
The latest research published in “Clinical Science” tells that it is harder for some people to lose weight due to the presence of a molecule. They have found that obese people tend to have a higher expression of a molecule called lysyl oxidase (LOX).
This molecule LOX is associated with scarring of the fat tissue, which is one of the best weight loss boosters. Even this is proven by a previous research on weight loss patterns, published in “The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism”.
Diabetes and Obesity Research Group at the University of Exeter Medical School in the United Kingdom conduct the said research. It says that every 1 in 3 adults in the United States is obese which makes him at a high risk of type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart problems and a few types of cancer.
If there is a complete absence of exercise and poor diet choices, the risk of obesity increases even more. It is not a surprise that a healthy diet and increased physical activity can help to lose the weight as earliest attempts to shed weight.
These interventions of weight and food choice can show mixed results on people. Due to this, some people can lose weight easily while others feel it hard to lose it. This study is an explanation for those who cant lose weight.
Obese people have higher LOX levels- Study suggests
The study investigated the expression of this molecule in healthy as well as obese patients. The analysis of the sample from abdominal fat tissue was taken before they went for the weight loss surgery process.
It was compared with the lean person’s abdominal far samples. The analysis told that fat tissues of these obese people had a great expression of this LOX molecule, which is a major cause of fat tissue fibrosis.
The further study reveals that increase in LOX expression is enhanced by oxygen deprivation in inflammation in fat cells. It occurs when they grow large in size.
This type of stress makes the body loses its capacity to store excess calories. As a matter of fact, these calories are stored as fat cells around the visceral organs i.e. liver and heart.
This accumulation of fat can induce certain health problems such as heart problems, liver issues, blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.
Unfortunately, this tissue fibrosis can make it very difficult for people to lose weight. But it doesn’t mean that it is impossible to lose weight with this condition. It just requires some careful steps to follow for making the weight loss possible.
Adding a regular physical activity and a reduced amount of calories intake for a long term can induce this weight loss possible. It also helps the fat tissue not to be more overworked. In this way, it reduces the risk of obesity and sheds the weight naturally.
The highlighting part of this research is that targeting the LOX molecule may one only one way to prevent the body from fat cell fibrosis and in this way it may make weight loss easy for some people. However, it is not the only reason for a stuck weight. More research studies are required to confirm the validity of this theory.
