MCT Oil- What do you need to know about it?

If you are new to the world of reading about health-related articles you may not know what is MCT oil. The internet is full of the benefits of MCT which is basically medium chain triglycerides. It is a form of saturated fatty acids which are amazing for health.

Their vital roles are in weight loss and strengthening the brain. Naturally, coconut oil is one of the best sources to get MCT but the commercial market is now with exclusive MCT oil which is quite popular among users.

MCT is also famous as MCFAs which is exactly the same thing. In case you are confused between two, both are one same thing. Saturated fats were long declared as harmful but the recent studies proved them not to be harmful.

Now that we know that coconut oil is rich of MCT, it suggests to use it every day. Practically speaking, is it even possible to use coconut oil daily? It may not be a problem for the residents of tropical areas. But for others, it may not be a wise idea.

Not only the coconut oil, MCTs are also found in saturated fats i.e. butter, cheese, palm oil, milk, yogurt etc.

What’s the best about MCT oil?

MCT is actually no word. The name is an abbreviation which is given to them by the way their chemical structure is constructed. All fatty acids have carbon and hydrogen in them. There are different numbers of carbon elements.

The real reason that MCT oil is one best type of healthy fats is that they are digested in lesser time. They make their way to the liver and produce a thermogenic effect. It also increases the metabolic rate. That’s why it helps to lose weight rather than getting stored beneath your skin.

MCTs are short chained fats which are absorbed in less time because of their short structure. Due to their small size, they can permeate the membranes of the cells and it’s easier for the body to use them for different purposes.

MCTS and other small chain fats can help you in many ways i.e.

  • It helps you to lose weight.
  • It helps you to maintain weight.
  • It reduces the deposited fat inside the body.
  • It increases the metabolic strength.
  • It produces more energy.
  • It helps the user to gain clear cognitive processing.
  • It strengthens the digestive tract.
  • It maintains a healthy level of hormones.
  • It fights against the pathogens and increases immunity.
  • It improves your mood and helps you to overcome mood swings.
  • It absorbs the nutrients that are fat soluble from the foods you intake.

Is MCT oil better than coconut oil?

You may know the benefits of coconut oil all the way from your home remedies to the research articles that publish every now and then. The same research studies say that coconut oil is a good source of MCT oil. Also, it has pathogenic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory etc properties.

This tells us that MTC oil is a part of coconut oil. The difference between these two is that MCT oil is highly concentrated and coconut oil is not. Although coconut oil has MCT oil in it overall its concentration is less than pure MCT oil.

MCTs are of further four types which are grouped base on the carbon atoms from 6-12.  The MCT oil which is a part of coconut oil has one particular type of MCT oil which makes up to 50% of the total amount of MCT oil. It is a lauric acid which is a major part of coconut oil.

It’s not that one oil has some benefits which other cannot provide. It’s just that both are helpful but it depends on which one can you use and what is the purpose of use.
