Symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome In People

The diets of the people today play a fundamental role in defining the new health problems and challenges. It was once said that most of the diseases are related to the gut of the person. In fact, studies have shown that it is true in many health complications. Conditions related to the gut are very common. Irritable bowel syndrome is one of them.

Irritable bowel syndrome or what is also known as mucus colitis, spastic colitis, irritable bowel disease, and nervous colon is diagnosed in 6-18% of the people worldwide. It is a long-term gastrointestinal disorder which shows early symptoms in people as soon as it develops.

Figuring out the signs of this disease is particularly hard. Usually, they vary from person to person and can be very different. If not managed properly, the symptoms can turn severe, leaving a person with intense abdominal pain and many more complications.

There are various factors that affect the symptoms in the person. This includes diet, stress management, specific foods, exercise, and the mental state or emotional well-being of the person.

In addition to all of these, there are many more triggers that can lead to irritable bowel syndrome. Therefore, many doctors find it hard to find the exact trigger. The majority of the time, doing healthy lifestyle changes is enough for the management for spastic colitis in a person.

Causes of Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome is a common disease which is more likely to affect adults who are engaged in their stressful lifestyles. The exact cause of IBS is still unknown but it is clear that it has no link with some serious underlying condition such as cancer.

Most of the health professionals have noted that diet plays a huge role in IBS and digestive disorders in general. A person whose diet is filled with empty calories, high sugar foods, and processed foods is more likely to have IBS.

Many times, the factors are also interlinked with each other. For example, mental health is said to have a link with the gut bacteria, digestive health, and ultimately IBS. Poor diets are not good for emotional well-being and in turn, mental instability can also worsen the symptoms of IBS.

In a similar way, stress may also affect how your food is digested. Often, this results in the organs included in the digestives may become more sensitive to pain.

A person’s hormones and genetic factors also play a role. This is why women are more likely to have severe symptoms of IBS. Other factors linked with the disorder include gut infections, malfunctioning of muscles, and the inability of CNS to manage the digestive system smoothly.

Another very important thing is mental health and managing stress. Make sure to indulge in a relaxing activity and taking a day off if possible. Remember, mental stability is as important as physical health.
